Klean Rug Cleaning

Pre-Inspection

We certainly take note of any cleaning concerns you may have, but we also take the time necessary to pre-inspect each rug that comes in for:

  • Dye stability
  • Spots and stains
  • Pet urine damage
  • Traffic patterns
  • Soil levels
  • Overall condition
  • Fringe damage
  • End and edge wear

Whether you have us pick up your rugs for cleaning or you bring them in yourself, Klean Rug of Raleigh will complete a full pre-inspection in our shop prior to beginning any services. Any pre-existing condition that may impact our ability to clean your rugs safely and effectively will be discussed with you.

Dusting

Dry Soil Removal (Dusting)

Weekly vacuuming at home leaves behind the impacted soils at the base of the rug fibers. To obtain the best results on the wash floor, we need to remove this grit by using a combination of harmonic vibration and powerful vacuuming over the front and back sides of your rugs.
We are able to customize our approach and use alternative methods to ensure the safe handling of any rug determined to be too fragile for our standard dusting process.

Rug Washing

No rugs are co-mingled on our wash floor. They are washed one at a time, which eliminates the risk of cross-contamination from wastewater from rugs belonging to other customers.

Klean Rug of Raleigh uses clean, cold water and cleaning solutions that are formulated to be safe for use on the kinds of fibers found in area rugs including wool, silk, viscose, and cotton. Our entire wash process is built around the individual needs of each individual rug.

No matter where in the world your rug is from, we’re able to create a cleaning protocol that is safe for the fibers and dyes found in your rug!

Rinsing & Drying

Every rug is rinsed until the water runs clear and no suds are visible. In doing this, we ensure a beautiful sheen and soft finished texture. After rinsing, your rugs are placed in our humidity-controlled drying area until completely dry. Once dry, your rugs receive a final fringe and pile detail.

Pet Urine & Odor Removal

Odor-causing bacteria can grow and spread if even trace amounts are left behind after spot cleaning pet stains at home. To effectively remove pet urine odors, the pet urine deposits need to be located and treated at the source. This kind of decontamination cleaning is beyond the scope of regular cleaning.

The entire rug is flushed with lots and lots of water and specially formulated urine decontamination solutions to ensure complete odor removal. These solutions are worked into the rug and all the way through to the back so that no fibers are missed. This odor control process also works well on persistent odors such as cooking odors, nicotine odors, and musty odors.

Occasionally, we come across an area rug that is so badly pet urine damaged that structural issues exist such as rotting foundation yarns, alkaline burn, or rotted areas. In those cases, we might recommend replacing your rug instead of cleaning it, as these are not reversible conditions.
